With over two decades of experience to her credit, Mrs. Talkington excels as a behavioral health specialist within the health care industry. Specializing as a national board-certified counselor and a licensed professional counselor supervisor — with a focus on aiding children with autism, trauma therapy and utilizing EMDR to treat trauma in both children and adults — she recently joined the OK Behavioral Health Association in 2023, having previously worked as a counselor, therapist and violence prevention counseling program supervisor in the family violence program for the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, to which she contributed between 2020 and 2022. Prior to her current appointments, Mrs. Talkington was the clinical director of Pinnacle Care between 2019 and 2020. Furthermore, she formerly operated as a licensed professional counselor for numerous other Oklahoma-based organizations throughout her career, including the Family Health Center of Southern Oklahoma and the Southeastern Oklahoma Family Services. Mrs. Talkington originally began her career as a special education teacher at the Kingston Public Schools from 2001 to 2004.

As part of her vocational journey, Mrs. Talkington cultivated her own formal education, ultimately achieving a Master of Education in counselor education, school counseling and guidance services at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 2003. Licensed with the Oklahoma State Board of Education, she likewise obtained a post-graduate certification as a school psychologisr from East Central University. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree at Southern Nazarene University, with an expected graduation date in 2025. Ever committed to her professional endeavors, Mrs. Talkington also remains affiliated with several industry-related organizations, including the Oklahoma division of the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision and the Oklahoma Mental Health Counselor Association. In light of her fulfilling career, she has largely attributed her success to her positive upbringing by her father, William Melvin Manning, as well as the support of her husband, Calvin Daniel Talkington, who has supported her career and continuing education. Looking to the future, Mrs. Talkington hopes to continue finding and tackling new challenges in her field as she continues to work with children and adults with Autism and those who have experienced trauma, as well as families needing healing..
