Specializing in public health services, she has served as a home visiting coordinator at the Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, since 2019. She originally joined the medical center in 2016, operating as a family support worker supervisor with the Healthy Families New York organization until 2019. Prior to her current position, she worked extensively with the Jewish Child Care Association from 2012 to 2016 and with the Brooklyn AIDS Task Force from 2006 to 2009. Ms. Atongi originally began her career in 1993, working with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey until 2001.
As part of her vocational journey, Ms. Atongi pursued a formal education, earning a Bachelor of Science in community health and human services at St. Joseph’s University in New York in 2008 and a Master of Science in Social Work at Adelphi University in 2012. In addition to her academic credentials, she also holds several industry-related certifications, including as a certified counselor, phlebotomy technician, and medical assistant. To commemorate her accomplishments in the field, she was previously honored with an Outstanding Service Award from the Jewish Child Care Association. Attributing much of her success to the love and support of her parents, Ms. Atongi is notably proud of her work as an adult infant mental health specialist and as a sleeping baby ambassador. In the coming years, she hopes to rise to the position of director at the Brookdale Hospital Medical Center.
