With 25 years of experience to his credit, Dr. Wright has cultivated a fulfilling career in the fields of clinical and forensic psychology. In 2021, he was appointed to the role of deputy commissioner at the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual Disability Services in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In addition to his recent appointment, he also continues to operate as the director of the behavioral health and justice division. Having originally joined the organization in 2007, he previously functioned as a criminal justice coordinator and senior advisor to the commissioner until 2013. Dr. Wright is also a dedicated educator, having served as an adjunct professor in the department of psychology at Temple University since 2013. To wit, he began his career in 1997, working as a psychology intern at the Cincinnati Veterans Administration Medical Center until 1998. Dr. Wright was also appointed as a trustee for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for the Opioid Mediation Settlement, the funds of which are to be utilized for the people of the state and his county.

Dr. Wright’s performance in the field was born of his educational journey, beginning with his time at The Ohio State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and cultural studies in 1993. He subsequently continued his studies at Wright State University, where he achieved a Doctor of Psychology in clinical and forensic psychology in 1998 and later completed a postdoctoral residency in 1999. In addition to his academic credentials, Dr. Wright is also a licensed clinical psychologist in the states of Ohio and Pennsylvania, as well as a certified instructor in mental health first aid. He notably authored “Find Strength In Your Struggle: Discover The Miracle In You” in 2015, and he is well regarded for his dedication to civic advocacy, regularly participating as the chair of several charitable organizations, including Fathers and Children Together and Helping Our Families. Dr. Wright attributes much of his vocational success to his sincere passion for helping others, with his parents serving as role models throughout his life.
