Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Suneja pursued an education at Hindu College in New Delhi, from which he obtained a pre-medicine degree in 1978. He concluded his academic efforts at Maulana Azad Medical College at the University of Delhi, where he notably earned a medical diploma in 1983 in addition to a blessing from Mother Teresa, a Gold Medal from the President of India and the Hippocratic Oath in 1984. Following these accomplishments, Dr. Suneja completed a residency in internal medicine at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center in 1989 and a fellowship in cardiology and interventional cardiology at Case Western Reserve University in 1992.
As a testament to his stellar endeavors, Dr. Suneja has been celebrated among the Top Doctors in America between 2019 and 2022, the Top Cardiologists of Houston by Houstonia Magazine between 2016 and 2018, and the 50 Legends of Houston of Indian-American Origin by the Library of the India Foundation Studies at the University of Houston in 2015. Honored as a Top Cardiologist by Living Magazine Katy/Fulshear in 2019, he was additionally recognized as the Citizen of the Year by the American Heart Association in 2005 and Katy Chamber of Commerce in 2015. Looking toward the future, Dr. Suneja hopes to become certified as a yoga instructor in addition to publishing a book about his life’s journey.
