Patricia Meyer, Psychotherapist and Lecturer, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in social work.

After initially obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in 1969 from Carroll College in Helena, Montana, Ms. Meyer subsequently earned a Master of Social Work from The Catholic University of America in Washington in 1976. During her senior year in college, she had the opportunity to experience working in her desired career field when she was exposed to law enforcement and juvenile court, which made her realize how much she could help adolescents. Eventually, she was hired by the juvenile court and became one of the pioneers who applied the Bowen Family Systems Theory in the juvenile judicial system.

For more than 45 years, Ms. Meyer has excelled as a respected mental health practitioner and licensed clinical social worker who has maintained her own private practice in Herndon, Virginia. The Bowen Family System is a framework for understanding one’s family history and its emotional patterns, as well as the emotional patterns of self, creating the potential of building a more solid, productive and fulfilling life. An expert in individual and family psychotherapy, she works with adolescents and adults of all ages. Besides her private practice, she has been dedicated and served as the director of family therapy for Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, a consultant for the Fairfax County Crossroads Drug Abuse Program and the Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court and has provided a wealth of education as clinical instructor in the department of psychiatry at the Georgetown University Family Center at Georgetown University Medical School. Throughout her career, the highlights that stood out the most to Ms. Meyer are the times when she has been able to use her talents and knowledge to provide a process to enable and assist motivated individuals to build a more productive, solid, and satisfying life.
