Since 2008, Ms. Dunbar has flourished as president of Workplace Health Inc., a superior service located in Cleveland that oversees occupational health and wellness programs that improve employee health and productivity. As a certified occupational health nursing specialist through the American Board of Occupational Health Nursing, she brings over 25 years of experience in workers’ compensation case management, employee health and safety and the development and implementation of cost-effective workplace occupational health and wellness program strategy.
Following obtaining a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology and exercise science in 1983 from the University of California, Los Angeles, Ms. Dunbar continued her education with a Bachelor of Science in nursing from California State University Long Beach in 1986. From 1987 to 1989, she served as manager of the occupational health department with NI Industries, a Masco Corporation in Long Beach; director of occupational health services with The Stockman Group in Whitter, California, from 1989 to 1994 and director of occupational health services with Southwest General Health Center in Cleveland and Akron, Ohio from 1995 to 2000.
From 2000 to 2004, Ms. Dunbar provided superior care as an on-site nurse case manager with Americhem, Inc. in Aurora, Ohio and as a vocational rehabilitation case manager and nurse consultant with Crawford and Company in Cleveland, from 2004 to 2007 as director of occupational health services with Safety Controls Technology in Amherst and from 2007 to 2014 as a health and wellness coordinator at Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC in Elyria, Ohio. In addition to her work with Workplace Health, Inc., Ms. Dunbar has also served as a certified health coach since 2010 with OptaVIA, a a health and wellness lifestyle program based in Strongsville, Ohio.
As a career highlight, Ms. Dunbar cites helping companies increase their employee engagement up to 94% on wellness programming. She has also helped other companies maintain their safety programming or helped them increase their safety efforts to reduce their work-related injuries. Ms. Dunbar avers that she has made some significant contributions on worker safety, but she feels that she is not yet done.
