After initially obtaining a bachelor’s degree in physics and art with a biology minor from Brooklyn College in 2011, Ms. Adam-Whiter subsequently earned a master’s degree in adolescence education with a concentration in science from the aforementioned university in 2014. She continued her education with a master’s degree in mental health and wellness counseling from New York University in 2020. Since 2009, Ms. Adam-Whiter has tutored college students in physics, acrylic painting, Excel software and botany and high school students in physics, chemistry and biology. From 2014 to 2020, she provided superior education as a high school science teacher with The Cinema School in The Bronx, New York, where she taught physics, biology and earth science.
As a mental health counselor with Stewart Behavioral Health Services in Brooklyn from 2019 to 2020, Ms. Adam-Whiter practiced relationship counseling, dialectical behavior therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. From 2020 to 2021, she made an impact as a substance abuse specialist with the Institute for Community Living, in which she counseled recipients, developed treatment plans and reviewed and evaluated recipients’ progress. In addition, she has served since 2019 as a mental health counselor with Affective Licensed Clinical Social Work Services in Staten Island and since 2021 with Cerebral, a premier online mental health services provider. In the coming years, Ms. Adam-Whiter is looking forward to opening her own practice in which she can help people in the LGBT community, assist people who are struggling with behavioral issues and try to demystify and destigmatize those seeking mental health treatment.
