William McSwain, Counselor at PIDARC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in substance abuse counseling.
For over 15 years, Mr. McSwain has excelled as a certified addiction counselor. He has provided superior service with Americorps since 2006, where his specialties include substance abuse control, relapse prevention, one to one counseling, outreach and family awareness. He has also served as a counselor with Partners in Drug Abuse Rehabilitation Counseling (PIDARC) which provides outpatient and pharmacological treatment to those suffering from substance abuse. Mr. McSwain is a graduate of Burnette Training and Consulting Services and is a Certified Addiction Counselor Level 1 (CAC1).
Mr. McSwain attributes his success to his wife, who is a therapist and has always been his inspiration. He considers their relationship to be a beautiful partnership. He became involved in his profession because of his personal experiences as an alcoholic as well as a heart attack after a seizure. It changed his life and inspired him to continue his education and eventually complete his GED. Subsequently, he pursued a certification in counseling and became a certified addiction counselor afterwards. As a career highlight, Mr. McSwain maintains that doing the right thing has always been his motivation both in practice and his personal life. In the coming years, he is hoping to continue his practice as a counselor and to assist others, particularly the younger generation in the community, to listen and to educate them about the effects of substance abuse and alcohol in their lives and the importance of therapeutic interventions.
