Robert Robinson, Anaplastologist and Dental Maxillofacial Prosthetist at Langley Air Force Base, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in dental prosthetics and rehabilitation.

Following coursework in dental assisting at the Naval School of Dental Assisting and Technology in San Diego in 1988, Mr. Robinson completed studies in preventive dentistry and dental hygiene at Sewell’s Point Dental Center in Norfolk, Virginia in 1989 and dental laboratory prosthetics at the Naval School of Dental Assisting and Technology in 1991. He furthered his studies with courses in anaplastology and maxillofacial prosthetics at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School/Naval School Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland in 1999, a bachelor’s degree in health care management from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale the same year and a master’s degree in health services administration from Central Michigan University in in Mount Pleasant, Michigan in 2001.

Mr. Robinson’s certifications include Clinical Anaplastologist (CCA) from the Board for Certification in Clinical Anaplastology; a certificate in Dental Maxillofacial/Clinical Anaplastology from the Naval School of Health Sciences; he was certified as a Dental Technician by the Navy National Apprenticeship Program; and in Dental Laboratory Technology by the Naval School of Dental Assisting and Technology.

From 1986 to 1988, Mr. Robinson served his country in the United States Army National Guard and since his recruitment into the U.S. Navy in 1988, he has provided superior care as a consultant in the fabrication of intra- and extra-oral maxillofacial appliances, partnering and working as a team with oral maxillofacial surgeons and periodontists, prosthodontists, maxillofacial prosthodontists, general dentists, orthodontists, plastic surgeons and neurologists. Since 1998, he has excelled as a clinical anaplastologist/dental maxillofacial laboratory specialty instructor and prosthetist with the Naval Post Graduate Dental School in Bethesda; Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia; Walter Reed National Military Medical Center; in private consultant practice in Suffolk, Virginia since 2008 and with Langley Air Force Base, 633rd Dental Squadron, 633rd Medical Group in Hampton since 2016. 

Mr. Robinson has garnered numerous awards for his expertise and for his civilian service with the military that include the National Defense Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Conduct Medal, Navy Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, Commendation Award, Letter of Recommendation for the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Award, Letter of Appreciation from the  Virginia Dental Association, Medical Group Civilian of the Year, Dental Squadron Civilian of the Year, Medical Group Civilian of the Year, Civilian of the Year, Air Combat Command, Civilian of the Year at Joint Base Langley, (January-December 2019) and Civilian of the Quarter. His professional memberships include the International Anaplastology Association, Walter Spohn Trust, American Medical Administrators of Tidewater and American College of Healthcare Executives.

Mr. Robinson attributes his success to his desire to never stops learning and to continue to look for new ways of looking at things, new techniques and innovation in healthcare field that is rapidly changing. He always makes sure that he continues to look for information that is available, continues to do the research and speaks to other specialists in the field to balance ideas and document findings and share the knowledge with the public.

As a career highlight, Mr. Robinson points to the opportunities he has to give back to the public, whether to his colleagues on active duty or providing additional training on education for their growth and for his patients where he has become a close confidant or counselor as well as a dental specialist. In the coming years, he envisions himself continuing to share the knowledge within the field of anaplastology with both the military and with laypeople.
