Shuana Fletcher, LMSW, Division Director at the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professional for dedication, achievements, and leadership in substance abuse counseling.

Following obtaining a bachelor’s degree from Jackson State University, Ms. Fletcher followed with a Master of Arts in sociology with an emphasis on criminal justice and in 2016 a Master of Social work from the same university. She began her career in social work as a substance abuse counselor with St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi from 2004 to 2007 and then served admirably as director of the  DUI program, domestic violence and addiction and probation counselor with Court Watch Inc. Correctional Counseling of Mississippi in Jackson from 2008 to 2013.

Ms. Fletcher provided superior service as a PRN addiction therapist with A Bridge to Recovery in Ridgeland, Mississippi from 2011 to 2015 and MH-Program Administrator II with the Mississippi Department of Mental Health from 2013 to 2019. Since the latter years, she has prospered as division director of the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services and since 2013 as founder and substance abuse professional with Dynamic Consulting and Workshop Services, LLC, in Jackson. In addition, Ms. Fletcher has excelled in a part-time role as an addiction/MACT professor with the Mississippi Association of Addiction Professionals since 2018.

Ms. Fletcher’s numerous professional certifications include SASSI-4 Certified, Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory, Advance Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC), Mississippi Association of Addiction Professionals, as a Mental Health Therapist with the Mississippi Department of Mental Health, as an Internationally Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor, as a Licensed Master Social Worker, a Master Addiction Counselor, and as a Certified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) by the National Association of Additional Professionals (NAADAC).

To remain aware of changes and advancements in her field, Ms. Fletcher maintains affiliations with National Association for Addiction Professionals and the Mississippi Human Trafficking Council. She chairs the Conference Committee with the Mississippi Association of Addiction Professionals, and is a past president and board member of the Mississippi Association of Addiction Professionals (MAAP). Ms. Fletcher was named Hope Hero Supervisor of the Quarter, Mississippi Child Protection Services in 2021, was named Employee of the Quarter by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health in 2017 and was named Employee of the Year by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health in 2016.

Ms. Fletcher attributes her success to adhering to her motto, “mission over me.” Her success has been the product of her commitment to her purpose. As a career highlight, she was very honored to have been voted president of the Mississippi Association of Addiction Professionals (MAAP) in 2016. She felt the same honor when she was appointed by the executive director in her previous position to serve on Mississippi’s first Human Trafficking Task Force in 2015 under Governor Phil Bryant. In the coming years, Ms. Fletcher hopes to be able to continue helping people who are suffering from addiction, as well as teaching at her alma mater, Jackson State University.
