Jasmine J. Gee, Medical Records Specialist at the University of California, San Francisco, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical records and activism.
From 1999 to 2009 Ms. Gee provided superior service as a medical records specialist with the University of California San Francisco, where she was responsible for maintaining all the data of the school’s healthcare facility, making sure it is accurately recorded and then translated into codes that are used for insurance reimbursement.
Keenly involved in community affairs, Ms. Gee participated in the Calvary Presbyterian Church Choir, volunteered with the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition and chaired Trans March San Francisco. She has captured a Tita Aida Community Advocate Award for assistance to the LGBTQ community.
Ms. Gee attributes her success to the guidance and inspiration of the mentors that she has had along the way. The support of the LGBTQ organizations has also been instrumental to her success. Her close friends, who she considered to be family, have also encouraged her not to give up no matter what. She considers her career highlight as the occasions when she was needed to help translate for doctors and nurses, as some patients did not know how to speak English. In the coming years, Ms. Gee would like to have more volunteers working for LGBTQ events.
