Jessica Bugg, Clinical Pharmacist at University of Kansas Health System, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in clinical pharmacy.
Since 2019, Dr. Bugg has provided superior care with the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City as a clinical pharmacist, providing direct patient care that optimizes the use of medication and promotes health, wellness, and disease prevention. She is primarily responsible for making rounds with physicians on the teaching team for the hospital and focuses on interacting with medical residents, attending physicians, medical students and pharmacy residents and students. Additionally, Dr. Bugg reviews patient admission and discharge charts to ensure that they received the correct care.
Dr. Bugg obtained a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Kentucky, Lexington, in 2017 and served as a pharmacy Intern with UK HealthCare from 2014 to 2017. She then completed a postgraduate pharmacy residency program with Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, from 2017 to 2018 and postgraduate pharmacy residency program in internal medicine with UW Health from 2018 to 2019. She is certified in advanced cardiac life support and basic life support for healthcare providers by the American Heart Association. Dr. Bugg’s professional memberships include the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
Dr. Bugg considers her career highlight being named Preceptor of the Year in 2020, which is a recognition for the time and effort she put into teaching as well as ensuring that the students and residents got as much out of the rotation as possible. She contributes to her community through volunteerism with the Greater Boston Food Bank and the Salvation Army. Dr. Bugg was initially inspired to pursue a career in pharmacology to support frontline healthcare workers and prides herself on ensuring patients receive the correct medications and working with physicians to provide high-quality care. Looking toward the future, Dr. Bugg aspires to continue serving as a mentor for the next generation of pharmacy residents.
