Mr. Oddo is a counselor and social worker with more than 45 years of experience in the mental health field. He graduated from Lone Mountain College in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts in creative arts therapy and city planning, and began his career as an intern for the San Francisco Planning Commission. While with the San Francisco Planning Commission, Mr. Oddo developed an interest in the arts as a part of city planning, and started a summer job at a mental health clinic, where he helped establish a performing arts program for patients. He spent 24 years working for Sacramento County Mental Health and Social Services providing mental health counseling and quality assurance for the county’s in-home support services program and rose to become director of the Senior Companion Program. In recognition of his dedication to service, Mr. Oddo was named the Sacramento County Mental Health 2014 Employee of the Year.
Throughout his career, Mr. Oddo has continued to pursue additional professional education, earning a Master of Arts in counseling psychology at the University of San Francisco in 1995 and a Certified Addiction Counselor credential. He is currently studying metaphysical psychology through the University of Sedona, with plans to complete a Doctor of Philosophy degree. In addition to his work in public health, Mr. Oddo has worked with patients in private practice for more than 25 years as the owner of Jarrett Oddo Holistic Counseling Services. His practice focuses on treating PTSD and substance use disorders, and combines cognitive behavior therapy strategies with creative arts, mindfulness, and meditation. Mr. Oddo is active in Kriya yoga and meditation groups as well as organizations benefiting homeless shelters and animal rescues, and he is dedicated to promoting equity and inclusivity in access to services.
