Dedicated to helping people lead healthier lives through food preparation and education, Ms. Dukes has excelled as a cook and dietitian at Trinity Center, Lutheran Park Community in Des Moines, Iowa since 2020. A registered and licensed dietitian, she also doubles as a hospitality coordinator for the Dietary Department BMC, assistant food service manager at Fountain West Health Care Center and nutritionist at the Franklin C. Fetter Health Clinic. Between 1997 and 2017, Ms. Dukes served in similar roles with the Consolidated Management Company, Grace United Methodist Church, Mariott and Sodexo. In the earlier years of her career, she was a teacher of emotionally handicapped students at the Charleston County School District for two-and-a-half years. In the 1980s, she had been a food service supervisor for the South Carolina Department of Corrections and a nutritionist at the Services Council Day Care Center.
Ms. Dukes earned a Bachelor of Science in 1977 and a Master of Education in 1979, both from South Carolina State University, where she had also been a graduate assistant in home economics until her graduation. Notably, she was the recipient of the John H. Cromer Memorial Scholarship from the South Carolina Dietetic Association in 1977. To remain abreast of her industry, she currently maintains affiliation with the American Dietetic Association, Central Iowa Dietetic Association, Iowa Dietetic Association and Kappa Omicron Phi, as well as the True Bible Baptist Church, where she is a deaconess and secretary of the RIB Women’s Fellowship. She has also been involved with Meals on Wheels, the Mercy House Diabetic Clinic and the Project National Organization of Women at Broadlawns Medical Center. To attest to her success, Ms. Dukes can also be found in editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of American Women.
