A registered health information administrator, Mr. Angell has excelled as an outpatient coder at the Guthrie Cortland Medical Center (The Guthrie Clinic) since 2014. Among his various responsibilities, he works on denials from insurance companies, wound care coding, same-day procedure coding and labor and delivery coding. To remain abreast of his field, he maintains membership with the American Health Information Management Association and the New York State Health Information Management Association. Prior to his current position, Mr. Angell had also gained experience in pricing and inventory management at Lowe’s Home Improvement.
At the start of his professional journey, Mr. Angell earned an Associate of Arts and Sciences in business administration and management from Tompkins Cortland Community College in 1997 and a Bachelor of Science in business, management, marketing and related support services from Binghamton University in 2000. Later, in 2018, he attained a bachelor’s degree in health information management from the SUNY Polytechnic Institute in 2018. Mr. Angell attributes his success to a strong support system, which is comprised of family and friends, who encouraged him to explore new possibilities. Looking toward the future, Mr. Angell hopes to eventually serve in a management position so he can in turn encourage others to develop themselves as much as possible.
