Magda Zapata, MHC-LP, CASAC-T, Community Support Specialist at PCG, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Providers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in mental health counseling.

With a goal simply to help people, Ms. Zapata has excelled as a community support specialist for PCG since 2020. In her role, she conducts different therapies including individual, group, and family therapy, as well as music therapy. She also provides psychotherapy to individuals with mental health and substance use disorders, as well as handles various crises, including overdoses and people undergoing substance use withdrawals. In addition, Ms. Zapata has been the owner of Expand Your Learning since 2016, a tutoring center where she helps high school and college students with their academic studies, tutors English to Spanish speakers and provides career counseling.

Prior to her current positions, Ms. Zapata was an adolescent primary counselor for the Outreach Development Corporation and a substance abuse counselor at the Hispanic Counseling Center between 2019 and 2020. Earlier, she had been a senior market research analyst for The Channel Company from 2014 to 2017 and a product marketing specialist for Canon USA, Inc. from 2011 to 2014. Likewise, she was an associate at NDP Group, Inc. from 2004 to 2010, as well as a market researcher for numerous companies over the course of 15 years.

Upon earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing from Hofstra University in 2003, Ms. Zapata went on to attain a Master of Science in clinical mental health counseling from Long Island University Post in 2019. Attributing her success thus far to hard work, determination and being aware of her purpose, she was the notable recipient of a Building Healthy Lives Award. With this sentiment, Ms. Zapata is particularly proud to have developed a protocol for the homeless who required assistance in COVID shelters, as she was the DSS point person in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Today, she maintains professional membership with the American Counseling Association, American Mental Health Counselors Association and Chi Sigma Iota. Looking ahead, Ms. Zapata aims to build her own practice and eventually dive into teaching.
