Rose Thomas Crawford, Staff Therapist at Piedmont Walton Hospital, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in respiratory therapy.

Ms. Crawford is a registered respiratory therapist and neonatal pediatric specialist with more than 45 years of experience in her field. After graduating high school, she joined the Georgia National Guard, and was named Most Outstanding Soldier in her unit after earning several awards during basic training. Ms. Crawford’s mother encouraged her to pursue a career in medicine following her military service, and she studied at Athens Technical College, earning an Associate of Arts in respiratory therapy. She began her career at Piedmont Walton Hospital in 1975, where she continues to work in emergency and critical care performing respiratory intubation and arterial blood gas procedures.

In addition to her work as a respiratory therapist, Ms. Crawford has explored careers in modeling and real estate, and is proud to have been the first black woman in Walton County to have entered her field. She attributes her success to her integrity, character, and dedication to helping others, and describes medical work as “a ministry and a passion.” Ms. Crawford looks forward to retiring in the near future, and hopes to be able to travel more in her retirement.
