Clay D. Mathewson, Personal and Family Consultant, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Providers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in counseling.
Having developed an interest in psychology since coming of age, Dr. Mathewson likewise felt compelled to help others and parlay his knowledge of the field to others. In 1983, he earned a master’s degree in clinical counseling and applied psychology from Eastern Washington University, as well as a Doctor of Philosophy in clinical counseling, with an emphasis in depth psychology, from the Pacifica Graduate Institute in 1996. During the early stages of his career, Dr. Mathewson specialized in marriage counseling on behalf of affluent clients for many years. Following this period, he dedicated his professional pursuits to relationship and personal communications consulting from 1988 until 2012.
Presently, Dr. Mathewson works as a consultant, teacher and writer of non-fiction. Since 1988, he has served as a relationship consultant through Personal Health, as well as a transitional teacher since 2012. Overall, he has worked in hospitals, adolescent treatment centers and distinguished himself in private practice for 35 years. Additionally, Dr. Mathewson has written several books and had one book published in the Congressional Library of Congress, “Masculine Development,” from which he derived inspiration from facilitating men’s groups for 17 years. Outside of his primary career pursuits, he is an avid runner, having completed 29 marathons, including the Boston Marathon and 12 ultra-marathons.
