Since 1993, Ms. Osorio has been a clinical psychotherapist specializing in working with Spanish-speaking clients as well as children and youth recovering from abuse and complex trauma. Born in Colombia to a working-class family, Ms. Osorio credits her childhood participation in sports with helping her develop the discipline and focus required to pursue her dreams of helping others and studying psychology. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in social work from the National University of Colombia in Bogota and relocated to the United States in the 1980s to study at Columbia University, graduating in 1993 with a Master’s degree in clinical and medical social work. As a part of her commitment to professional growth, Ms. Osorio has taken postgraduate coursework in family therapy and through the New York Psychoanalytic Society & Institute.
In 2005, Ms. Osorio joined Sunrise Medical, PC, as a program administrator, expanding her duties to include clinical psychotherapy sessions in 2015. She has worked with People to People International and for the state of New York on a variety of projects and treasures the opportunity to travel and collaborate with other agencies and providers. Among many other accolades, Ms. Osorio was honored by the National Association of Professional Women in 2015 and named Employee of the Year by the Puerto Rican Family Institute in New York. With no plans to slow down, Ms. Osorio looks forward to spending the next several years creating partnerships with other organizations to help children access educational resources and college scholarships. She lives by the philosophy that every day is a chance to offer something to help others, and hopes above all to make a difference in the lives of her patients and those she interacts with.
