Sonya Coley Pitchford, MHA, PhD, Special Patient Access at Memorial Regional Medical Center Physical Therapy, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Providers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in healthcare administration and risk management.
Dr. Pitchford’s drive to help people came while helping her grandmother care for her grandfather during high school. After losing his battle with brain cancer, she vowed to care for others just as she had to him. Dr. Pitchford matriculated at the University of Phoenix, where she received an Associate of Arts in healthcare administration in 2009, a Bachelor of Health Administration in 2013, a Master of Health Administration in 2016 and a Doctor of Philosophy in healthcare administration, magna cum laude, in 2021. Upon completion of her degrees, she became a licensed state-certified nursing associate.
Dr. Pitchford has worked in special patient access, CSR patient registration and risk management at Memorial Regional Medical Center Physical Therapy since 2007. She has also been the owner of Your Gentle Care since 2020. With Your Gentle Care, she works in hospitals, nursing homes and with private duty cases to help patients receive the best possible private home care. Civically, she gives back to the community as an advocate for cancer patients and people dealing with mental health issues. As a testament to her success, Dr. Pitchford was inducted as a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success. In her spare time, she enjoys bowling and traveling.
