Originally working in the publishing industry, Ms. Gonzalez-Ricard ultimately wanted to do something that would have a positive impact on her local community, as well as society. She went on to earn a Master of Social Work from Fordham University in 2003, later becoming certified as a clinical trauma professional in 2019 and a dog trainer in 2020. Today, Ms. Gonzalez-Ricard excels as a licensed clinical social worker of psychotherapy and the owner of Mi Alegria Psychotherapy in Montrose, New York. Since spearheading her practice in 2018, she has offered psychotherapy for the treatment of anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and trauma, as well as a blend of cognitive-behavioral, Rogerian and existential perspectives to individuals, couples and families.
Alongside her practice, Ms. Gonzalez-Ricard has also been the founder and president of Big D’s Big Dog Rescue & Rehab since 2020. Earlier in her career, between 2007 and 2020, she had gained experience as a licensed clinical social worker at Montefiore Home Care, Metro Community Health Center, Calvary at Home Hospice, Brightpoint Health and Open Door Family Medical Center.
