Jacob A. Miller, Flight Nurse Practitioner at the University of Cincinnati Air Care, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in flight nursing.
A renowned nurse practitioner and clinical nurse specialist, Mr. Miller has an extensive 25-year background in flight, critical care transport and emergency nursing. Citing his profession as a childhood dream that “took off,” he has served as a part-time lecturer at Case Western Reserve University’s Dorothy Ebersbach Academic Center for Flight Nursing since 2017 and as an acute care nurse practitioner at the University of Cincinnati Air Care and Mobile Care since 2019. Additionally, since 2020, Mr. Miller has excelled as a paramedic with the Williamsburg, Ohio Township Emergency Services and as a critical care educator with Immediate Action Medicine of Los Angeles.
Prior to his current roles, Mr. Miller maintained involvement as a paramedic with Physicians Ambulance Services from 2016 to 2019, as well as an acute care nurse practitioner with eHospital and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation between 2015 and 2019. Gaining flight nurse and paramedic experience from 2014 until 2018, he had also flourished in paramedic and nursing roles with the American Medical Response, TransCare Maryland, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Women’s Christian Association Hospital. During the earliest stages of his career, Mr. Miller was a certified lab instructor of emergency medical technology and paramedic programs at Erie Community College and an emergency medical services coordinator at University Emergency Medical Services between 2009 and 2013. Furthermore, he served as a registered nurse at the Erie County Medical Center from 2006 until 2009.
To remain aware of developments affecting the field, Mr. Miller maintains his affiliation with the American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners, Air Medical Physicians Association, Society of Critical Care Medicine and Air & Surface Transport Nurse Association. He is also a member of the International Association of Flight & Critical Care Paramedics, National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and the Emergency Nurses Association. Likewise, Mr. Miller is a member of the honorary societies of Phi Kappa Phi, Sigma Theta Tau, Phi Theta Kappa, Sigma Alpha Pi and Omega Nu Lambda.
Mr. Miller received an Associate of Applied Science in nursing from Trocaire College in 2006, a certificate of emergency medical technology from Erie Community College in 2007 and a Bachelor of Science in nursing, summa cum laude, from Daemen College in 2011. Continuing his education, he earned a Master of Science from the University of Maryland in 2014 and a postmaster certificate in flight nursing and family nurse practitioner from Case Western Reserve University. Additionally, Mr. Miller is presently working toward a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Southern University and a Doctor of Nursing practice from the University of Cincinnati.
