Melinda A. Haley, PhD, Professor at Walden University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in counseling.

A licensed psychologist in the state of New Mexico since 2012, Dr. Haley was inspired to enter the field after watching the wonderful work a counselor did with her daughter. Following a traumatic experience, the healing that took place for her daughter was remarkable and admirable enough to spearhead a career in counseling in order to help others. Since 2012, Dr. Haley has excelled as a professor at Walden University, having also worked in private practice from 2012 to 2014. With her 17 students, she guides them through their research topics on human trafficking, multicultural differences and mental health among the Christian community, among others. Earlier, she gained experience as an assistant professor in counseling and guidance at the University of Texas, El Paso from 2007 to 2012.

Renowned for her exceptional career, Dr. Haley was the recipient of the 2012 Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of Texas, El Paso College of Education. A member of the American Counseling Association since 1999, she attributes her success to supportive mentors and family, a drive to help others and her love for teaching and knowledge. In the coming years, she hopes to publish a book all while continuing to educate the next generation of counselors, educators and researchers. Matriculating at Portland State University, Dr. Haley received a Bachelor of Science in history in 1999 and a Master of Arts in counselor education in 2002. She went on to attain a Doctor of Philosophy in counseling psychology from New Mexico State University in 2007. Notably, Dr. Haley was invited as one of 40 scholars in residence for the social justice symposium at Oxford University in 2012.
