Charlyn Stahl, Former Medical Laboratory Technology Program Director at San Jacinto College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators and Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical education.

Ms. Stahl celebrates retirement after a career spanning six decades of excellence as a medical laboratory technician and educator. Early in her life, interested in a career in medicine, she first explored nursing, quickly realizing that she preferred the more analytical work of a laboratory technician as opposed to the “front lines” of patient care. Ms. Stahl holds a Bachelor of Science in biology and chemistry from Texas Woman’s University and a Master of Science in higher education from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Further, she is a certified medical technologist and blood bank specialist.

After several years at the laboratory bench and backed by the support of several pathologist colleagues, Ms. Stahl transitioned into laboratory management roles with St. Paul Hospital, the East Texas Pathologists Laboratory, and the Pathology Association. She spent the early 1980s as a blood bank technologist with Houston Methodist Hospital. Four years later, she ended her laboratory career as the blood bank supervisor for M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, departing to become the founding director of the medical laboratory technology program at San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas. The program continues to thrive over 35 years later, and Ms. Stahl looks forward to returning to an advisory role in the coming years after stepping down in 2005. In her retirement, she is an active volunteer reading mentor for Pasadena Independent Schools. She additionally enjoys quilting and fiber crafts. As a testament to her success, Ms. Stahl has been previously profiled in several editions of Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in American Education.
