Reba Ross Hollingsworth, PhD, Dr. at Reba Ross Hollingsworth, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in counseling.
Growing up, Dr. Hollingsworth always wanted to become a teacher. In 1949, she earned a Bachelor of Science in home economics from Delaware State College, which provided her with the foundation to become a teacher at the William C. Jason Comprehensive High School in 1954. Later, in 1970, Dr. Hollingsworth furthered her education by earning a Master’s in guidance and counseling from the University of Delaware, going on to become a guidance counselor at Dover High School. After excelling in this role for a multitude of years, she returned to school at Pacific Western University, acquiring a PhD in counseling in 2001. Building off the new addition to her resume, Dr. Hollingsworth ventured out on her own as the owner of Hollingsworth & Hollingsworth Consulting Services.
Outside of her primary ventures, Dr. Hollingsworth is an established author. Her works include, “The NAACP Has Little in Common with the Klan,” and “The Hollingsworth’s Secrets to a Long Happy Marriage.” She additionally maintains affiliation with numerous professional organizations. These include Delta Sigma Theta, the National Alumni Organization, the Delaware Heritage Commission, and the United Methodist Church.
As a reflection of her accomplishments, Dr. Hollingsworth was inducted into the Delaware Women’s Hall of Fame in 2018. More recently, in 2020, she earned the Richard Allen Coalition Award. Reflecting on her success, she credits her honesty and her determination not to allow other people to decide who she was. Out of all of her achievements, Dr. Hollingsworth is most proud of assisting her husband in getting an education. With her help, he was able to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master’s in counseling. Looking toward the future, she hopes to write another book and continue on her current path.
