Noomi Katz, PhD, OTR, Researcher at Ono Academic College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in occupational therapy.

A licensed occupational therapist in Israel since 1963, Dr. Katz believes she fell into her profession by chance whilst trying to figure out her best career path. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Tel Aviv, Israel, and went on to further her education in the United States. Upon achieving a Master of Arts in occupational therapy, Dr. Katz also obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in health education from the University of Southern California in 1981. She cites the opportunity to study in the United States gave her a great deal of freedom in her desire to work in research. Throughout her career, Dr. Katz has honed her knowledge in identifying and treating cognitive and developmental issues, particularly in children and young adults afflicted with autism.

Notably, since 2007, Dr. Katz has been a researcher and research center chair at Ono Academic College in Kiryat Ono, Israel. In 2017, she took on the additional role of head of the research authority at Ono Academic College. She gained initial experience as a professor and chairman of graduate programs at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem’s Hadassah School of Occupational Therapy from 1990 to 2002. Outside of her primary roles, Dr. Katz served as chair of the Israeli Society of Occupational Therapy from 1991 to 1997. Today, she remains a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association.

Within her research career, Dr. Katz has served as the editor to the works, “Cognition, Occupation, and Participation Across the Lifespan: Neuroscience, Neurorehabilitation, and Models of Intervention” from 2018, “Cognition & Occupation Across the Life Span: Models for Intervention in Occupational Therapy” from 2005 and “Occupational Therapy Mental Health CL” from 1988. Additionally, she was a contributor to the 1992, “Cognitive Rehabilitation: Models for Intervention in Occupational Therapy.”

Throughout the course of her illustrious career, Dr. Katz has received honors on many occasions for her efforts in occupational therapy. Most recently, in 1997, she earned the Excellence in Lectureship Award through the Israeli Society of Occupational Therapy. In 1995, Dr. Katz was granted the Academy Research Award from the American Occupational Therapy Association. Looking ahead, Dr. Katz would like to be remembered as someone people could rely on. She advises other aspiring professionals to choose an area of work that they enjoy and stick with it. As a testament to her legacy, Dr. Katz is also listed in the second edition of Who’s Who in Asia, the 10th through 12th editions of Who’s Who in Science and Engineering and the 26th edition of Who’s Who in the World.
