George Raymond Lewis, Clinical Director at Assurance Home, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in social work.
Mr. Lewis’ main goal in his career plan was to help people, and in his role as clinical director of Assurance Home Inc., since 1992 he has lived out this mission each day of his profession. Prior to his current position, Mr. Lewis served the New Mexico Health and Social Services Department as a district training officer, field office manager, social worker consultant, and district operations manager between the years of 1971 and 1992. Utilizing his expertise, Mr. Lewis built a distinguished teaching career as an adjunct instructor at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, Eastern New Mexico University in Roswell and Texas Technological University in Lubbock.
Mr. Lewis received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Mexico in 1966 and a Master of Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake College in 1971. As a certified social worker and licensed independent social worker, Mr. Lewis has garnered a laudable reputation in his nearly 30-year career. In 2004, he was the notable recipient of the Caring Employee of the Year Award from United Way and was named an Outstanding Young Man of America by the U.S. Jaycees in 1978 and 1981. Presently, Mr. Lewis holds membership with the Academy of Certified Social Workers, Order of the Arrow Blue Key, American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, National Center for Crisis Management and EMDRIA International. He is also involved with the National Association of Social Workers who granted him the New Mexico Rose Praisner Award in 1992. The advice Mr. Lewis can pass onto aspiring social workers is to have a base of positive values to rely on when experiencing situations that are beyond your training and expertise.
