Sally Bishop, RN, WOCN, Consultant, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nursing and psychology.
Growing up, Ms. Bishop’s mother was a nurse, which inspired her to follow suit. She attended Elliot Community College, where she earned her RN certification in 1963. Her first professional position was as a staff nurse at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, New Jersey. In 1965, she became a visiting nurse for the Visiting Nurse Services in New York City. Later, in 1970, she began working as an ostomy consultant. She did that for eight years before being hired as a nurse clinician by Mount Sinai Medical Center. In the following years, Ms. Bishop earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Marymount College and completed training at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing. In 2004, with the assistance of her newfound certifications, she became a consultant at a private practice. She continues practicing there today.
To remain up to date in her field, Ms. Bishop holds membership to several professional organizations. These organizations include, but are not limited to, the American Nurses Association, the New York State Nurses Association, the International Association of Enterostomal Therapy, and the American Holistic Nurses Association. Her success in her field has been abundantly awarded. In 1972, she earned the Service Award from the Colostomy Society of New York, which was followed up by the Ileostomy Association of Nurses Award and the Nurse of Distinction Award from Mount Sinai Medical Center. Furthermore, she is featured in the 4th and 5th editions of Who’s Who in American Nursing.
