Allan Gold, PhD, District Psychologist with Reed Union School District, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in psychology.
With more than 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Gold has been a district psychologist with Reed Union School District since 1976. In addition to his primary role, he was an adjunct professor at the University of California Berkeley, from 1980 to 1987. He has also served as president of his local synagogue, and is currently board chair, of “Being Adept,” a nonprofit organization providing education for middle school students to prevent substance abuse.
Dr. Gold first pursued an education with the University of California Berkeley, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in psychology and mathematics, earning summa cum laude honors. While enrolled in a graduate program in statistics he joined the United States Army Reserves, serving in a medical unit, and he was introduced to psychology. He found that he had a knack for it and decided to make it his career. He earned a PhD in Educational Psychology in 1978.
A nationally certified school psychologist, Dr. Gold has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. He is a member of the California Association of School Psychologists and the National Association of School Psychologists. He also runs groups for children whose parents are divorced or ill, as well as those with special needs siblings. For his contributions to the field, he has received numerous awards and accolades. He was the recipient of the Rotary Club Award. Additionally, the California Association of School Psychologists twice named him an Outstanding School Psychologist, and he was given the First Educator Award for Outstanding Educators by Reed Union School District.
