Ruth Bichsel, PhD, Licensed Psychologist at the Eugene Center for Anxiety and Stress, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Healthcare Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Psychology.

With nearly 25 years of professional experience, Dr. Bichsel has been a licensed psychologist with the Eugene Center for Anxiety and Stress since 2019. Prior to obtaining her current role, she was the program director of the University of Oregon Substance Abuse Prevention Program from 2014 to 2018, having been the interim academic coordinator since 2013. Earlier in her career, she was a psychologist with PACES from 1999 to 2014 and an instructor with Lane Community College from 1995 to 2013. In addition to her primary positions, she served as an adjunct professor with the University of Oregon College of Education from 2008 to 2017.

Dr. Bichsel first pursued an education with the University of Oregon, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in psychology in 1980. She continued her studies with the school, completing a Master of Science in counseling in 1990. She later rejoined her alma mater, earning a PhD in counseling in 1997. She is certified as a master addiction counselor, a forensic evaluator for adults and youth, and she is licensed as a psychologist by the Oregon State Board of Psychologist Examiners. Dr. Bichsel was inspired to go into her field by her own Native American cultural background and working with those in her community. She realized the gap in the psychology community on needing to understand cultural differences and ways to improve the way providers relate to multiple cultures. Furthermore, she was inspired by her mother, a traditional Navajo tribal elder, who instilled in her the values to be kind to all people.
