A leading expert in the fields of psychology, Dr. Batkins is a licensed and board-certified psychologist with Peachtree Psychiatric and DBT Professionals. Prior to obtaining his current role, he was a senior partner with the Behavior Institute of Atlanta, an assistant professor and clinic coordinator with Winthrop University and the University of South Carolina, and chief of emergency and child and adolescent services at Mental Health Center. Earlier in his career, he was a supervisor of psychological services at Georgia Public Schools, a founding member, and director of mental health at the Department of Juvenile Justice and Department of Corrections, and an expert review for the Social Security Administration.
Dr. Batkins first pursued an education with Old Dominion University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, in psychology in 1972. He continued his studies with the University of Tennessee, earning a PhD in children’s psychology in 1982. He is licensed as a psychologist in the state of Georgia, a trained mediator, and a nationally board-certified couple and family psychologist.
