Gina Higgins, Psychologist and Writer, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of mental health.
Due to her own upbringing in a tumultuous home, Dr. Higgins has had a lifelong interest in studying mental resilience. She earned a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Tufts University in 1972, and in 1974, she graduated from the institution with an MEd. She garnered experience as a lecturer at Middlesex Community College and Lesley University, additionally working in the Eliot-Pearson department of child study and human development at her alma mater, Tufts University, until 1975. As a licensed psychologist in the state of Massachusetts, Dr. Higgins spent five years working as an assistant professor. Starting in 1982, she served as a psychotherapist, intake diagnostician, and case consultant at the North Shore Children’s Hospital. In 1985, she concluded her academic pursuits, graduating from Harvard University with an EdD.
During her tenure at the North Shore Children’s Hospital, Dr. Higgins served the hospital’s mental health center and medical education and evaluation clinic. Since 1987, she has privately practiced psychotherapy and psychodiagnosis in Salem, Massachusetts. Among her myriad career highlights, she is proud of her written works, “Resilient Adults: Overcoming a Cruel Past” published in 1994 and “Resilient Woman: Hope in Action” published in 2017. Dr. Higgins maintains affiliation with the American Psychological Association and the Massachusetts Psychological Association, and as a testament to her success, she has been selected for inclusion in the sixth edition of Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, as well as multiple editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of American Women.
