Una Williams, Retired Social Worker, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in psychiatric treatment.

Ms. Williams began her career as the director of the Huntington Program for Senior Citizens in the Town of Huntington, New York, where she worked from 1963 to 1967. From 1969 to 1972, she served as a psychiatric social work supervisor for both the New York State Department of Mental Hygiene and the Suffolk Psychiatric Hospital. She leveraged her experience and expertise as a medical and psychiatric social worker at the Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs from 1974 to 2008, rising to the rank of medical social worker of dialysis services in 1998. From 2000 to 2008, Ms. Williams continued her commitment to improving the patient’s mental health within her community as a psychiatric social worker of acute psychiatric treatment services at the medical center. In addition to her work with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, from 1985 to 2002, she contributed to the Mental Health Association of Nassau County as a referral counselor. From 1994 to 1999, she excelled as a therapist at the Madonna Heights Family Clinic for the SCO Family of Services.

In preparation for her career, Ms. Williams studied at the University of Alabama, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1957 and continued her academic pursuits at Adelphi University where she graduated with an MSW in 1963. She is a diplomate in professional counseling of the International Academy of Behavioral Medicine, Counseling and Psychotherapy Inc. In addition, she is a diplomate of the National Association of Social Workers, and holds certifications in counseling and psychotherapy. Ms. Williams is a member of the Germany Philatelic Society, for which she served as the president of Chapter 30 in 1990, and received a Member of the Year Award in 1987. As a testament to her experience and success, Ms. Williams has been featured in the third edition of Who’s Who Among Human Services Professionals, as well as multiple editions of Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who of American Women, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who in America.
