Sam Okanume, Chief Executive Officer of Elite Care, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in mental health care and social work.

Licensed as a Clinical Professional Counselor in District of Columbia and Maryland, Dr. Sam Okanume is the chief executive officer of Diversity Counseling Associates, with which he provides leadership for mental health therapists and agencies in developing diagnostic assessment and implementing necessary support to strengthen community-based services. Dr. Okanume is also certified as a Master Addiction Counselor by NAADAC, and as a Licensed Social Worker in Washington, DC. He is also a Board Certified Supervisor in the State of Maryland.

A licensed clinical counselor in Maryland, Dr. Okanume earned a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Philander Smith College, as well as a Bachelor of Science in social work through the University of Arkansas. Subsequently, he received a Master of Science in Human service and a Doctor of Philosophy in counseling studies through Capella University. Dedicated to his community, Dr. Okanume volunteered as a coordinator for the Arkansas Department of Human Service for Welfare Reform between 1997 and 1999. Today, he devotes himself to various welfare-based programs. Dr. Okanume is contracted with a number of mental health agencies. His work includes clinical supervision and consultation, individual and group therapy, Couple’s therapy, child welfare, juvenile corrections, grief and bereavement, trauma, substance abuse, and suicide prevention. Dr. Okanume is passionate about helping individuals who are impacted by behavioral and emotional problems.

In light of his professional accomplishments, Dr. Okanume earned the Governor’s Award through the Arkansas Department of Human Service for Welfare Reform in 1997, 1998, and 1999. Moreover, he was presented with the Ed DuCamp Award through Big Brothers’ of Tennessee.
