Morreece Cook, Social Work Manager, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of social work.
Ms. Cook decided on the medical field right after high school and after becoming more comfortable in the medical arena she decided that she could combine her desire to help others and her desire to work in the medical field. She began her education at Mercy College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in psychology in 1971. Ms. Cook then continued her studies at Wayne State University and graduated with a Master of Social Work in 1985, while completing coursework toward doctoral studies in 1988. She is a certified diplomate in clinical social work and a certified social worker.
Beginning as a senior social worker for the Sinai Hospital of Detroit, Ms. Cook excelled in the position from 1972 to 1991, when she became the manager of education at Wayne State University Medical School until 1996. Next, she found success as a project manager and human performance technologist for the General Motors Corporation and the Kmart Corporation. Ms. Cook concluded her career as a senior social worker at Community Hospice in 2004, having previously served in the same role at the Henry Ford-Wyandotte Hospital & Medical Center from 1999 to 2002. In addition to these professional responsibilities, she also excelled as a faculty member in the School of Social Work at Wayne State University, a member of the Greater Detroit Area Health Education Council, and a speaker at professional organization meetings.
Although her career ended abruptly due to her being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, Ms. Cook is extremely proud of the work she has done. She has been a valuable member of the National Association of Social Workers, the National Society for Hospital Social Work Directors, the American Public Health Association, the International Society for Performance Improvement, and the American Society for Training and Development, among many other professional organizations. Most fond of her direct interaction with patients, she holds the Academy of Certified Social Workers credential, the most widely recognized and respected among social workers. As a testament to her great success, Ms. Cook has been featured in the second and fourth editions of Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America, and the 21st edition of Who’s Who in the Midwest.
