Barbara Lashley, Mental Health Counselor and Educator at Bridgewater State College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of mental health.
A member of the American Counseling Association, Ms. Lashley pursued an education at Massasoit Community College, earning an Associate of Science in psychology in 1977. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in physical geography from Bridgewater State College in 1979, she began her career as a daycare development specialist at the Paul A. Dever State School in Taunton, Massachusetts, before working as a therapist at the Massachusetts Treatment Center. Between 1982 and 1988, Ms. Lashley found success as a personnel director for the Department of Mental Health and as a maximum tier privilege coordinator at the Massachusetts Treatment Center. Returning to her education, she graduated from Bridgewater State College with a Master of Education in counseling psychology in 1989.
A certified counselor and licensed mental health counselor, Ms. Lashley picked up on her career again as a guidance counselor at Epping Elementary School and then as the owner and therapist of Children’s and Family Guidance from 1989 to 2014. Within that time, she held the additional positions of a counselor and teacher for Nutri System and as a consultant to nursing homes at Heritage Hospital. Currently, Ms. Lashley is a fee-for-service clinician at South Shore Mental Health in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Throughout an impressive career, she is most proud of her work with autistic children and having a number of them progress to college. In recognition of her achievements, Ms. Lashley has been featured in the 24th edition of Who’s Who in the East and the 26th edition of Who’s Who of American Women.
