An empathic person who truly feels the energy and feelings of the people around him, Mr. Williams became involved in his profession more than 20 years ago with a desire to give back to those who were suffering. In his eyes, providing mental health therapy to veterans was the ultimate way to serve his community. During his career, Mr. Williams has worked with individuals facing a variety of issues including post-traumatic stress disorder, homelessness, alcohol and drug abuse, and grief. His noteworthy work with the VA includes such positions as a psychiatric admissions coordinator, jail outreach therapist, addictions medicine fellow and psychiatric social worker. The key to Mr. William’s success has been making his number one priority the patient. His goal has always been getting his patients stabilized and doing it in a way that was respectful of their individual needs and circumstances.

A licensed clinical social worker, Mr. Williams prepared for his career by achieving a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Regents College (now Excelsior College) and a Master of Social Work from Portland State University. His early roles included grief counselor for the Winterspring Center, clinical social worker for the Oregon State Hospital, and mental health therapist for Kaiser Permanente. These experiences laid the groundwork for the expertise he now possesses in treating depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, couples therapy, and grief and loss. Looking ahead to the future, Mr. Williams intends to continue working with mentally- and medically-impaired veterans who are acclimating back to civilian life.
