With nearly 40 years of professional experience, Dr. McGuinness is a preventive medicine consultant with Rio Bravo Medical Home as well as chief executive officer of Inoculatics Corporation. Dr. McGuinness began his career as a student at George Washington University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science. He then joined George Mason University, receiving a Bachelor of Science in physiological psychology. He continued his studies with the California School of Professional Psychology, earning a Master of Arts and a PhD in clinical psychology. Dr. McGuinness later completed postdoctoral coursework and a Master of Science in clinical psychopharmacology with Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Dr. McGuinness served as a forensic chemist with the US Department of Drug Enforcement Administration but realized he wanted to focus more on treating the mentally ill and people with substance abuse issues and instead of arresting them. He completed an Air Force internship with the Indian Health Service whose rural population was in tremendous need of care. Dr. McGuinness became involved in a movement for clinical psychologist to prescribe medication and became an expert witness before the New Mexico legislature to advocate for that. New Mexico became the first state in the country where specially trained psychologists were given prescription authority and there are now five states that have passed that law. Due to his efforts, Dr. McGuinness served as a clinical health psychologist and prescribing clinical psychologist with the US Public Health Service from 1992 to 2015.
