Diane B. Monsivais, Ph.D., Associate Professor at the University of Texas at El Paso School of Nursing, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nursing education.
A certified nursing educator through the National League for Nursing, Dr. Monsivais has been serving as an associate professor at the University of Texas at El Paso School of Nursing since 2014. Prior to this appointment, she served as an assistant professor at the university from 2009 to 2014 and clinical instructor at the university from 1998 to 2008. During her tenure, she also served as the director of the MSN with a focus in nursing education program. In addition, she was the editor of “Research and Theory for Nursing Practice: An International Journal” for several years.
Highly educated, Dr. Monsivais holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Duke University, a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at El Paso, and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Having formerly served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps while pursuing her undergraduate education, she maintains membership with the American Nurses Association, the Council of Science Editors, the National League for Nursing and Sigma Theta Tau.
In recognition of her exceptional contributions to nursing education, Dr. Monsivais was named an Academy of Nursing Education Fellow by the National League for Nursing and was given a Wakefield Endowed Professorship in Health Sciences in 2015. She cites receiving her doctoral degree, becoming a tenured professor and being named a fellow to be the ultimate highlights of her career.
