Deborah Lynn Sherman, Poet and Retired Teaching Assistant/Illinois Licensed Paraprofessional, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership as an artisan in poetry, photography and creative writing.
Supported by 25 years of experience in both artistic pursuits and the health care industry, Ms. Sherman is an esteemed and respected health care professional and poet. Retired in 2012; having previously served Catholic Cemeteries as a sales representative, St. Anne Center as an activity assistant, and Cambridge House LLC as a co-owner and writer. Prior to these illustrious roles, she was employed as a teacher’s assistant at Lutheran Family and Children’s Services Child Development Center, and as a nanny in private homes. She has also been an art instructor for the Young Rembrandts and as a tutor with the Montessori Learning Center. She commenced her career as a nurse’s aide and caregiver for Complete Health Care, Inc., in 1993. She then moved into health information management.
The recipient of a medical administrative assistant degree from the Ross Medical Education Center; Ms. Sherman was the co-founder of the Writer’s Challenge Literary Association in 1997; acting as first Official Poetry Judge; with membership in the International Society of Poets.
The author of myriad poems, Ms. Sherman has accrued several accolades for her literary prowess. The recipient of an Editor’s Choice Award from the National Library of Poetry, she also received the President Award for Literary Excellence from the Author’s Registry. Notably, she was selected for inclusion in the 58th edition of Who’s Who in America for her work. In 2018, she was honored with an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award as an artist.
With a dedication of spirit, Ms. Sherman also enjoys creative expression, looking to volunteer her efforts in multiple creative ways. A self-taught photographer, she enjoys incorporating her poetry into her digital art and is a former featured artist/marketing assistant volunteer at Womenspace and Total Living Networks former Rockford Christian Television Station. She is a former performing artist/guest speaker for the Light of the World Retreat, including retreat aide and speaker for Handicapped Encounter Christ. Ms. Sherman is currently active in her local parish as a lector and choir member.
A devoted wife for over 40 years, Ms. Sherman is the proud mother of three sons and four grandsons; along with her extended family and her adorable kitty JellyLu. She enjoys spiritual studies, yoga, light gardening, and interior decorating in her spare time. An accomplished wordsmith, Ms. Sherman has been moved to address words of faith, hope and love, within her inspirational writing; formulating a passion for composing spiritual songs and prolific writings toward Christian publications.Contact Ms. Sherman:
