Deborah Reese Potts, Retired Mental Health Therapist at Baylor Scott & White Health, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in mental health care.
Drawing upon more than four decades of professional experience, Ms. Potts is an acclaimed and respected figure in the realm of mental health care. Most recently serving as a mental health therapist at Baylor Scott & White Health until her retirement in 2016, she delved into her profession due to her desire to continuously give back to her community. Raised by parents who also believed in the pursuit of aiding those around them, she pursued formal education at Baylor University, where she earned a Master of Science in educational counseling in 1975. She attributes her profound success to her parents as well, having had the privilege to watch them work diligently and compassionately throughout her formative years.
Specializing in adolescence guidance and counseling, Ms. Potts always displayed an aptitude for research, as she always desired to learn more about her patients and her profession as a whole. Benefitting from her natural affinity for listening as opposed to speaking, she has always been remembered fondly as one who was authentic in her practices, having cared deeply about each individual patient. Her most humbling career achievements have been witnessing her former patients follow through with their aspirations, often hearing from them years later and discovering that her guidance shaped them into better people.
Alongside her primary endeavors, Ms. Potts is also an accomplished author, having written the children’s book “Ocean Surprises.” She is currently working on an adult fiction novel, “Three Forks,” regarding the distinction between good and evil and how that line is often blurred. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and taking care of her grandchildren.
