Edith K. Funk, Psychotherapist and Social Worker, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Health Care Providers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in counseling services.
An accomplished and venerated figure in the field of social service, Ms. Funk has amassed nearly five decades of professional experience. Serving as an independent contractor in counseling services since 2011, she previously acted as a counseling chaplain at The Menninger Clinic from 2002 to 2005 and a psychotherapist at Woodridge Counseling Service from 1996 to 2003. Prior to these appointments, she was a preaching associate pastor at the First United Methodist Church from 1993 to 1996, a chaplain at Topeka State Hospital from 1990 to 1993, and a pastor at the United Methodist Church from 1984 to 1990. She commenced her career as a music teacher at Shawnee Mission School District and Osage City Schools between 1969 and 1974.
To prepare for her illustrious career, Ms. Funk pursued an education at Emporia State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in music education and Master of Music in 1966 1968, respectively. After obtaining hands-on experience in the field, she received a Master of Divinity from Saint Paul School of Theology in 1984. Thereafter, she obtained a Master of Social Work from the University of Kansas in 1995. She has been certified as a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Kansas and an ordained minister by the United Methodist Clergy.
In recognition of her exceptional contributions to religious services and education, Ms. Funk has accrued several accolades. Named an Outstanding Young Educator by the Osage City Jaycees in 1972, she was the recipient of the Kimbrill Award for Excellence in Biblical Studies from Saint Paul School of Theology in 1983. Thereafter, she was a grantee from the Saint Paul School of Theology in 1984. Notably, she has been highlighted in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of American Women.
